Robert P. "Rocky" Bleier
Rocky is one of the original members of the VETPA team. His commitment to veteran’s causes and motivational speaking dedicated to helping all, veterans and non-veterans, to achieve their goals is well documented.
Rocky was born and raised in Appleton Wisconsin where he excelled as a 3-time All-State running back on the football team and also stared on the Xavier High School basketball team. He received a football scholarship to Notre Dame where he captained the 1966 national Championship team.
Upon graduation from Notre Dame in 1968 he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Soon thereafter he was once again “drafted”, this time by the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam where he was wounded in action for which he received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He returned to the Steelers a cripple. Through hard work and sheer determination Rocky rehabilitated himself and went on to earn 4 Super Bowl rings.
Following his football career Rocky once again demonstrated his determination and work ethic by founding and developing multiple successful enterprises one of which is RB VetCo, a service-disabled veteran-owned company. His incredibly busy schedule notwithstanding, Rocky found time to author 2 books, an autobiography, “Fighting Back”, and a book on financial planning entitled “Don’t Fumble Your Retirement”. He also is in great demand as a motivational speaker by many organizations and large public corporations.
Rocky’s commitment to veterans’ causes is well documented as are his efforts on behalf of many non-veteran organizations. Recognitions and awards for his work are too numerous to mention, however, as a Pittsburgher, the “Lifetime Achievement Award” recently received from the Dapper Dan organization is of special significance.
Rocky is married, is a father and a proud grandfather. His commitment to helping others and to VETPA is exceeded only by his commitment to his family.
